DC Flush Metaphor

MARP tweet quote:

Those living in a sewer soon lose all sense of its smell. DC smells to high heaven. Flush ——> http://wp.me/s1fQnO-start

The flush metaphor is a variation on the “reboot DC” metaphor.  “Reboot” only has meaning to computer literates, likely still less than a majority of the population.  The glorious attribute of the “flush” metaphor is that it is likely understood by 95%+ of the population.

The downside of the flush metaphor is that it is a bit inaccurate and possibly extreme.  Marp seeks a massive infusion of common sense to Washington in an amount 24 times current levels.  If common sense were water in the flush metaphor, 24 times current levels would “flush” 3 or four times.  This would only be required with an extremely clogged and dysfunctional toilet.  On second thought, maybe the metaphor is accurate after all.

Poor restaurant service requires more waiters. Fire everywhere requires more fighters. Crime everywhere requires more police. Elected oligarchy requires more congresspersons. Elected monarchy requires more presidents. America lacks governance? Keep the congress and add 11k more. Keep the president and add 8 more. Democracy disperses power. Autocracy consolidates power. Step it up, America.  Be proactive. Check out plan-b.
